Our Gold Seeker 4WD Tour visits the scenic lookout on Coronet Peak, plus traverses the Skippers Road and heads into the Arrow River for excellent off-roading in the water. Embrace the spirit of early European gold miners and pan for gold in the crystal blue rivers. Gold can always be found by the eager as this was once the gold capital of the world. Therefore, you can end the day richer in life and in the pocket.

A tour to rule them all !   Gold Seeker is an amazing experience in the abandoned gold mining areas of Queenstown.  

Using two of the most spectacular roads in the world, this 4WD tour encompasses breathtaking scenery, exhilaration off-road driving, amazing history along with great refreshments and an opportunity to find real “wild” gold.

The excursion can be flexible in terms of time and content, along with options to add in jetboating, shopping in Arrowtown or other activities.   

The tour may commence in Queenstown, Arrowtown or another location and drop off can vary from pick up. Examples: A tour may start and end at the Arrowtown Coach Park with a total duration of 60 minutes.   This version utilizes the Arrow River only and includes refreshments and gold panning.

Similar to above the tour includes a trip along the Skippers Road or Tobins Track.   Both offer high points overlooking the Queenstown Valley delivering the best photo opportunities possible.  

This tour is two hours in duration. The tours can be extended to include a guided tour around the Arrowtown Chinese Settlement, the shops of Arrowtown or any combination available in the area.

What is the minimum / maximum number for this tour ?   The minimum is 5 paying adults and the maximum is 150 pax. What is the minimum age ?  There is no minimum or maximum age, we can provide car seats when requested. Is it suitable for everyone ?  People with serious disabilities will struggle getting in and out of the vehicles.   People with bad backs or advanced pregnancy may be advised not to take this tour. What is the insurance liability ?  The tour travels on legal road and therefore there is no additional insurance liability or waivers to sign. What are the refreshments ? A light refreshment of black tea, green tea, coffee and hot chocolate accompanied by cake and biscuits are offered.   Dietary requests in advance may be catered to. Is finding gold guaranteed ?   No, gold is an elusive precious metal and effort needs to be expended which is normally rewarded with some “colour”.


What are your child rates/ Child ages?
We do have child rates available. Infants (0-3 years) travel for free and children (4-14 years) travel at a discounted price.
Can my child come on this tour?
Our 4WD tours in Queenstown welcome all ages; there’s no minimum age requirement. We provide child and booster seats upon request at booking.

Reasons for this could include, but are not limited to: • Excessive rain causing risk of flooding • Extreme high winds • Snowfall closing roads • Excessive Ice on roading network • Risk of lightning strike during tours • Weather related State of Emergency declared by authorities • Any other extreme environmental or weather event, Such as Earthquake, Landslide, Wildfire, Tsunami, Cyclone, Volcanic Eruption. This was by far the highlight excursion!   The trip went to the outside of Queenstown and Arrowtown, found Lord of The Rings locations, enjoyed off-roading that only Land Rovers can provide.   The complete package, must do. - Dan P.
